Gold Negba Runway
In memory of Walter Sydney Gold
Out of the necessity of the reality that was created and existed for years, of the lack of orderly and organized flying places for jet pilots, and out of a great vision of establishing an organized and orderly flight runway at the highest level, Mr. Avi Ambar started the initiative to establish a neat and organized runway Mr. Avi Ambar was helped in favor of this initiative by two other jet pilots, one of the top pilots in Israel, Mr. Ofir Babish, and Mr. Gabi Keidar, who unfortunately passed away and did not get to see and experience the fruit of their planning and labor.
For years, after endless difficulties and bureaucracy, the location for the runway in the fields of Kibbutz Negba was finally found and chosen, and with all the necessary approvals, the construction of the runway, which was specially designed for all the needs of Jet planes and the pilots, was carried out.
The runway was designed so that it would be adapted to almost all days of the year according to the average wind direction in the area with data of a runway width of about 17 meters, and a runway length of about 300 meters long.
Pilots have an organized designated area the PITTS, for their well-being and convenience with an organized parking option and a spacious place to deploy all the equipment.
The runway was designed so that there would be a designated area for engines starting and operating, and from there an exit to the runway, and this so as not to cause discomfort to the other pilots and those present in the designated area.
The flight runway and the pilots flight positions are defined in the most clear and precise manner, and there are very clear and strict flight rules, all for the benefit of the safety of the pilots in particular, and everyone on the runway in general.
